“The future looks brighter than ever” by Kevin Jerome Everson, Justin Randolph Thompson and Anike Joyce Sadiq _ Exhibition

An Exhibition by Kevin Jerome Everson and Justin Randolph Thompson with additional works by Anike Joyce Sadiq created for Biagiotti Progetto Arte that investigates distant aspirations and conquest over the natural world. Drawing upon a legacy of allusions as illusions and the socio political framing of Black hope, the dialogue between the works questions the prescribed climbing of the social mountain.
La mostra "The future looks brighter than ever" è un’esposizione con opere di Kevin Jerome Everson, Justin Randolph Thompson e Anike Joyce Sadiq che riflette sui temi delle aspirazioni e delle conquiste sul mondo naturale, oltre che sul legame tra allusioni e illusioni nel quadro socio-politico della 'Black Hope'.

A concert celebrating the legendary Jamaican Singer on the occasion of his 71st birthday. The social role that Marley’s music has played pushed for the unification of African Peoples and global consciousness and these musicians join their forces to celebrate his life’s work.
Un concerto per celebrare la leggenda del reggae giamaicano in occasione di quello che sarebbe stato il suo 71° compleanno. Il ruolo sociale della musica di Marley è stato fondamentale nell’unificazione degli stati africani e nella diffusione di una coscienza globale.

Una serata tutta incentrata sui suoni dell’Africa Sub Sahriana con i dj dell’etichetta Voodoo Rebel che ci guideranno attraverso le evoluzioni della musica africana, dall’indipendentismo degli anni 60 fino alle molteplici fusioni dell’elettronica di oggi.

This author and filmmaker will guide children through a range of activities exploring language development while using the story of the Ghanaian Goldilocks as a framework. Her multiple childrens books and experience as the founder of a language school frame her emphasis on the importance of diversity and being represented in media.
L’autrice guiderà i bambini in una serie di attività interattive che esplorano lo sviluppo linguistico utilizzando la storia ghanese ‘Riccioli d'Oro’ come cornice. This atypical quartet creates a style of fusion that traverses different directions and tendencies, developing a range of music that is innovative and fresh; from classic jazz to hip hop of the 90’s the Segugi draw inspiration from every harmonic style finding non conventional themes that release from cuts & Ryhymes, soul ‘ 70-’80 or rhythms that are pure funk.
Questo atipico quartetto predilige uno stile fusion che va in varie direzioni e tendenze, dal jazz classico all’hip hop anni 90, ricercando trame non convenzionali e sperimentali che scaturiscono da cuts&rhymes, soul ’70-’80 o ritmi prettamente funky.

Eritrean Chef celebrates 7 years of her restaurant in Florence accompanied by acoustic blues and r&b performed by Justin Randolph Thompson and an acoustic set with Blip Trio. This blending of the African and African American cultural legacies seeks to strengthen the diasporic bond and celebrate love on Valentine’s Day.

Uno spettacolo dedicato ai bambini e prodotto da TeatroSfera a partire dalla storia della ballerina e attivista afroamericana Josephine Baker, dall’infanzia nel Missouri al successo internazionale trovato a Parigi.

This is a multi sensorial evening with a redecorated space and a shift from the traditional Eritrean menu to that of African American Soulfood. One night only dining guests can appreciate, new scenery a new menu and a interactive soundscape provided by Dre Love and Josef on the Eritrean Guitar, the Krar.
Una serata multisensoriale con lo spazio del ristorante interamente ridecorato per l’occasione e un incontro culinario tra tradizione eritrea e Soulfood afroamericano. Ad accompagnare musicalmente Dre Love alla voce e Josef al Krar, la chitarra eritrea.

h14:00 > ‘Neuromelanin Ring Shout’ by Andre Halyard and Justin Randolph Thompson in collaboration with Radio Papesse _ performance live streamed as part of the AudioBlast Sound Art Festival in Nantes

A live experimental sound art performance with hybrid electronic instruments that addresses the neuroprotective associations in melanin in dialogue with the tradition of the ring shout as an African tradition preserved by African Americans as a form of spiritual protection and expression. The performance employs a drum machine, a lap steel guitar, hybrid percussive instruments, two turntables and two microphones for a sound work that engages a mix of folk traditional ring shouts mixed with abrasive textures drawn from the realm of hip hop and heavy metal. The performance is in collaboration with Radio Papesse and is performed in live feed with the AudioBlast Festival in Nantes.
Una sound performance sperimentale che nasce dall’incontro tra strumenti ibridi e elettronici che indagano sulle capacità neuroprottetiva della melanina e la forma tradizionale del ‘ring shout’ africano, presenrvato dagli afroamericani come espressione di protezione spiritual. Attraverso l’uso di una batteria elettronica, una chitarra, percussioni, piatti e microfoni la performance si muoverà dall’ambito sonoro dell’hip hop fino all’heavy metal. Grazie alla collaborazione con Radio Papesse sarà trasmessa in diretta all’AudioBlast Festival di Nantes.

For the closing of the first annual Black History Month the founders Andre Halyard, Andrea Mi and Justin Randolph Thompson have organized a discussion around the hopes, aspirations and realities of the future of BHMF. It will be an occasion for shared thoughts about the first edition, plans for the future and, additionally, a moment for the viewing public and Florentine community to speak their own thoughts about the initiative and to provide suggestions and reflections.
Per la chiusura del primo Black History Month gli organizzatori Andre Halyard, Andrea Mi e Justin Randolph Thompson propongono una tavola rotonda sulle speranze, le aspirazioni per il futuro di BHMF e per raccogliere suggerimenti e riflessioni dal pubblico.
